Sacramento, CA---Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar announced today that it has signed a lease to open its seventh restaurant at The Village at Queensridge in Summerlin, Nevada. The Village at Queensridge is an $850 million upscale retail, restaurant, entertainment and office space complex currently under construction eleven miles northwest of the Las Vegas Strip. Mikuni intends to operate the 7,200-square-foot restaurant under its Taro’s By Mikuni concept in late 2008. The Summerlin Taro’s will offer the award-winning Mikuni sushi and innovative rolls along with other Asian-themed dishes.
“We are excited to be part of this new entertainment center. Summerlin is one of the fastest-growing affluent planned communities in the country. We intend to provide a unique alternative environment for local residents who are tired of going to the Strip for dining and entertainment,” said Derrick Fong, chief executive officer of Mikuni.
The Summerlin, Nevada location will represent the second Mikuni location outside the Sacramento area. In addition to its five Sacramento-area locations, Mikuni will open its sixth restaurant at the world-class Northstar-At-Tahoe resort located in Truckee, California this year. Northstar-At-Tahoe has recently completed the first phase of its development with the completion of a $250 million resort village. In addition, the Ritz Carlton has begun construction of a $300 million hotel and residence complex anticipated to open in fall 2009.
Since 1987, the award-winning Mikuni restaurants have blended traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi with American innovation. Mikuni employs more than 500 people and currently operates five upscale, casual dining locations in the Sacramento region. Mikuni’s extensive menu features more than 300 original sushi creations served in eclectic, energetic, dining settings.
