In an investigative report aired Wednesday, February 6 at 11pm on Sacramento's NBC affiliate KCRA 3, Mikuni was found to be the the only sushi restaurant tested not deliberately deceiving their customers. Every other sushi restaurant was found to be substituting an inexpensive low quality fish, Tilapia, for the more expensive Red Snapper known as Tai in Japanese.

Sacramento, CA---Mikuni Restaurant Group announced today that it has signed a lease to open a Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar in the Park Meadows lifestyle shopping mall located in Lone Tree, Colorado, twenty miles south of Denver.
Due to popular demand, Mikuni Roseville has extended its open hours to include lunch on Sunday.

Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar announced today it is the recipient of a Golden Nugget Award for its Elk Grove, California restaurant. The 44th annual Golden Nugget awards program is the premiere event of the annual PCBC (Pacific Coast Building Conference). Mikuni restaurant builder, Walsh & Forster, Inc., based in Portland, Oregon, with an office in Sacramento, submitted the Mikuni Elk Grove restaurant in the category of Best Specialty Project. Kevin Donnelly, of Ekistics Design Studio in Sacramento, was the project architect.
Sacramento, CA---Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar announced today that it has signed a lease to open its seventh restaurant at The Village at Queensridge in Summerlin, Nevada. The Village at Queensridge is an $850 million upscale retail, restaurant, entertainment and office space complex currently under construction eleven miles northwest of the Las Vegas Strip. Mikuni intends to operate the 7,200-square-foot restaurant under its Taro’s By Mikuni concept in late 2008. The Summerlin Taro’s will offer the award-winning Mikuni sushi and innovative rolls along with other Asian-themed dishes.
